About & Heritage

Tate Modern 1

Hong Kong (Primary Asian Edition) Note: Art Basel operates its flagship show in Basel (Switzerland), alongside major sister editions in Miami Beach and Paris (Paris+ par Art Basel). Art Basel Hong Kong was established in 2013, succeeding the former ART HK (Hong Kong International Art Fair) after its acquisition by Swiss-based MCH Group. Positioned at the critical crossroads of Eastern and Western art markets, its mission is to provide the premier platform for galleries from Asia and the Asia-Pacific region to showcase modern and contemporary art alongside their global peers. Over more than a decade, the fair has played a foundational role in cementing Hong Kong as an elite international art capital, serving as a gateway for global collectors to discover Asian perspectives. The show features diverse structural sectors including Galleries (main exhibitions), Insights (projects focusing on artists from Asia-Pacific), Discoveries (emerging global artists), and Encounters (monumental large-scale sculptures and institutional installations). In addition to fostering high-level commercial exchange, Art Basel Hong Kong collaborates intensely with local cultural entities like M+ Museum and the HKMoA to present concurrent city-wide public programs. This synchronization elevates the entire region’s creative landscape into a week of deep cultural dialogue and prestige.
