His career began in animation, moving to Japan to work on iconic series like Inspector Gadget, and later directing the animated musical specials for Madeline, which earned him an Emmy nomination and a Humanitas Award. He subsequently transitioned to Hollywood and the game industry, spending decades shaping the visuals of major intellectual properties. Martiniere has served as a visual director for groundbreaking projects like the Myst series (Uru: Ages Beyond Myst) and id Software’s Rage, and has contributed extensively to Walt Disney Imagineering theme park concepts worldwide. Recognized globally as a digital art pioneer, he has been awarded the title of “Exposé Grand Master” and has won multiple Hugo, Chesley, and Spectrum Awards.
